Philae Shrine Centre
The Shrine has evolved through world wars, the depression and human
catastrophes since the first meeting held in New York City Masonic Hall on
September 26, 1872. Their fraternal commitment and dedication resulted in the
establishment of the Hospital for Sick Children in June 1922 in Shreveport, La.
The network of hospitals grew and their great humanitarian mandate has
catapulted the Shrine to the forefront of brotherly compassion in action.
The Philae Temple in Halifax has an illustrious history that spans from
the early part of the 20th century. Active in community affairs and philanthropy
for the Hospitals for Sick Children, the Halifax Shrine Club was the first to be
formed and have blossomed into 14 clubs that network the Provinces of Nova
Scotia and Prince Edward Island.
Philae
Temple's history continues to be written by the members of the nobility through
their continued efforts to promote the fraternity and the philanthropy of the
Ancient Arabic Order of the Nobles of The Mystic Shrine.
